Where does the time go??

Wow, I can't believe it's been nearly a year since my last post! I guess time flies when you're making changes. We are buried in house improvements in an effort to get our house up on the market!

Just a taste....

Drumroll please... master bath 2.0

Three weeks later, the master bathroom is "almost" ready for it's big reveal!!

I am so excited to have a place that I can soak and relax! The inspiration for our master bathroom came from a Pottery Barn paint chip that I picked up when we were registering for our wedding (ahem, more than 3 years ago)!! And my love of all baths and kitchens to be white!

You are never going to believe what I found out today! Did you know that Martha Stewart has a line of cabinetry, countertops and hardware at Home Depot. One word...Amazing. Three words... Gotta Have It!

Family Room, Phase II

It finally happened, we replaced the nasty beige (perhaps was white at one time) carpet in the family room with new hardwood floors- which match the rest of our house. My parents came in for the Easter weekend to help out, and it was back breaking work! The end result was totally worth it!! We were also able to pick out some new couches and send the old blue ones to a new home!! It is so nice and open feeling now, I finally feel like it's coming together!

Rome, Italy & The Vatican City

The next stopover was the incredible city of Rome, Italy, seriously, you can't do Rome in a day, and that's all we had. We managed to fit in visits to the Colosseum-which is way larger than I had imagined, the Arch of Constantine, a drive by of many impressive landmarks of early Roman innovation, we saw Nero's Circus Maximus- where chariot races were held and of course spent the afternoon at the Vatican! You cannot phathom the number of people who are touring the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica at any given time! Walking through the halls of the museum and into the chapel was like moving cattle. There are curators/guards who keep the crowd constantly moving. The constant shuffling made taking pictures a bit of a challenge.You must see the extrordinary art in person to truely appreciate it! Michelangelo's masterpiece is much different in person than what you may see in print-there are no photos allowed within the chapel, and it is very dimly lit- as not to destroy the pigment. But it is the most amazing single piece of art that I have ever seen. St. Peter's Square itself was so impressive, when standing in the center, it is a perfect ellipse. Meaning the two rows of columns that surround the square, align perfectly to appear as one! It was magical! We are not Catholic, so I times I felt like we didn't quite "get it", but I am so happy that I was able to see Vatican City!
